Rajasthani art on leather bags, painted in Jaipur
Leathura is a hand-painted leather bag brand based in Jaipur. Founder and artist Satish Khorwal personally paints every bag, drawing on 30 years of experience in handicrafts and his work across Rajasthani art. He starts with a sourced leather bag and uses its surface as a place for colour, characters and ornamental detail.
For someone who loves Indian art, the appeal is in carrying a painting into daily life. The current collection includes musicians, lotus portraits, birds, flowers, mandalas and golden scrollwork across slings, crossbody bags, satchels and backpacks.
Meet Satish Khorwal
After three decades in handicrafts, Satish began a new chapter with Leathura. We source the leather bags, and Satish makes each one personal through his painting. His colours, characters and ornamental details bring the artist’s own touch to a familiar everyday accessory.
That direct connection with the artist is central to Leathura. When you choose a bag, you are choosing a design painted by the person behind the brand. Read the Leathura story for more about this chapter in his craft.
Portraits and musicians: art with a character
Portrait paintings give the bag a human focus. In the Lotus Portrait Sling, a woman holding pink lotuses sits against a blue circular background. The Garden Lotus Portrait Satchel places a lotus-holding woman in a garden with a blue floral border. Musician bags introduce an instrument and a painted figure, making them a natural place to start for someone who enjoys art and music.

Flowers, mandalas and ornamental detail
If you enjoy repeated patterns, look closely at the Floral Mandala Sling and Painted Medallion designs. Their vines, small flowers and central ornaments create several details to discover. Golden botanical and scrollwork paintings offer another direction, with gold-coloured ornament arranged across the leather surface.
The names describe what appears in the artwork. A mandala design or portrait alone does not identify a particular historical painting school. Choose the piece for the painting you see, and ask the studio if you want to discuss the artist’s influences behind a specific design.

Nature paintings for a different mood
Birds, butterflies, blossoms and the Cat at Sunset Sling offer alternatives to portraits and ornamental work. These designs suit buyers who connect with a particular animal, garden or landscape. Compare the original product photographs to see how each painting sits on its bag shape.
How to choose wearable art
Begin with the theme you like, then decide between a sling, a structured satchel or a backpack. Ask for confirmed measurements if everyday capacity is important. On each product page, the first gallery image is the original product photograph; studio and in-use images are styled illustrations. The original is your reference for painting detail.
The hand-painted bag buying guide explains the practical checks, and the gift guide helps choose for another person.
Can I buy a painted bag outside Jaipur?
